{HMW} You handed food a lot of power. You can take it back.

Dear Reader, >>> Pre PS. There is still time to RSVP and join us for a cooking workshop with Healthie Foodie girl today! - we start at noon eastern - see below for more details. Years ago I described healing my relationship with food like getting out of a bad romantic relationship. tell me how to behave, have power over me. It felt like I had no autonomy or agency. It was just a never-ending running list of rules I'd handed my authority over to. When I started tuning in to the nuances and flavors of food and slowing down enough to let myself experience actual pleasure while eating, something shifted. I could finally tell which foods I truly liked and which ones I could "break up" with naturally, not by force or willpower. That was the revelation that made me feel powerful and in control. I no longer had to force myself to say no to food. I was no longer the one left out at parties, sulking in the corner with diet food. I could fully participate, because I wasn't operating under rigid rules anymore. I got to actually decide and trust my decisions. Where are you still letting food have the power in that relationship instead of you?Have it: Interesting Article Alert: 4 Surprising Health Benefits of Eating Outdoors This is the dress I chose from Rent the Runway for the upcoming black tie wedding we are attending in a couple of weeks. Ingredient Spotlight: Roasted Red Peppers I ate muhamara for years, loving it before I found out what was actually in it. Roasted red peppers, the whole time, hiding under all that walnut and pomegranate. Raw red peppers are crisp and sharp. Roasted ones go soft, sweet, and a little smoky, closer to a fruit than a vegetable at that point. Roasting also strips away any bitterness, which is part of why they show up in sauces and spreads instead of just salads. They're also a solid source of vitamin C and the carotenoids that give them their color. ✅ Ways to use it: Blend into muhamara with walnuts, garlic, and a hit of pomegranate molasses Puree into hummus or whipped feta for an easy dip upgrade Layer onto a sandwich or flatbread in place of raw tomato Get some recipe ideas...... → here Announcements & Upcoming: We're so excited to have Shawna and Ella from Healthy Foodie Girl with us!
