{HMW} 67% of women do this while eating. Do you?

Dear Reader, Your phone is making you eat more. Not because you're stress-scrolling through bad news, although of course that doesn't help. It's actually simpler than that: when your brain is processing Instagram, it can't process "I'm getting full." Studies have shown that 52% of men and 67% of women are on their phones while eating. And research shows that screen use during meals increases how much we eat, especially processed foods. Your brain literally can't track both your feed and your fullness cues at the same time. Here's the distressing part: even when your phone is just sitting there face-down, it's draining your mental resources! Part of your brain is busy resisting the urge to check it, which means less attention for noticing when you've had enough. But the flip side matters too. Studies show that when people cut back on phone use during meals, they report better focus, improved mood, and stronger satiety awareness. Your body knows when to stop eating, you just need to be present enough to hear it. This week's challenge (should you choose to try it): Pick one meal and put your phone in another room. Not silent on the table. Actually away. Then notice what happens when you eat without that background pull on your attention. See if there is any difference in taste and satiety. What has been your experience? If you get stressed out a LOT lately (raises hand) this is an interesting tool that measures cortisol levels without taking blood work. Higher cortisol affects sleep/wake cycles, your mood, your immunity and a lot more. I am not an affiliate and have not tried this product - but I can see it being helpful in tracking these levels so that one can take targeted action, when necessary. Ingredient Spotlight: Fava Beans Fava beans might require a little extra prep work (i.e double-shelling), but trust me when I say they're worth the effort. With their buttery texture and slightly sweet, earthy flavor, these bright green beauties bring something special to the table. I like tossing them into spring salads, mashing them onto toast with some lemon and olive oil, or stirring them into pasta. They're packed with protein, fiber, and folate, making them as nutritious as well. Plus, they're one of the oldest cultivated crops in the world, so you're basically eating a piece of food history. If you're new to fava beans, start simple: blanch them, pop them out of their skins, and toss with fresh herbs and good salt. 17 Chefs on their Favorite Ways to Cook Fava Beans Announcements & Upcoming: I’ve teamed up with Brandi from Photo Books by Brandi and an amazing lineup of creators to bring you something magical this fall… The Creativity Vault Bundle is almost here, and it’s packed with 29 creative freebies for your personal projects and your business.
